ACCESS STATEMENT

Casa Rocca Piccola is situated on the main street of Valletta about 600 metres from the Bus Terminus. The pavement immediately outside the property has a gradient with gentle 5cm steps but since the road is quiet it is also possible to push wheelchairs on the tarmac road. Taxis can stop outside but finding parking spaces during the day in Valletta can be difficult and may require parking a considerable distance away.

The access to Casa Rocca Piccola is through a large doorway immediately followed by 5 stone steps with a handrail. Casa Rocca Piccola has 24 marble steps from the entrance level to the Piano Nobile where the Guided Tours of the house are done.

There is a lift access to the main floor of Casa Rocca Piccola from the other entrance at 53 St Dominic Street. Please ask at reception for this access and someone will guide you there and give you access to the wheelchair accessible lift.

Once you are at the main Piano Nobile level of Casa Rocca Piccola there are no further steps and access into individual rooms is through double doors. The exhibits are all visible for wheelchair users.

There is a bathroom for disabled users on the ground floor of Casa Rocca Piccola near the lift with the appropriate handrails and turning areas.

The Bomb Shelters of Casa Rocca Piccola have around 100 stone steps, some narrow tunnels and in parts uneven surfaces and so are not recommended for wheelchair users or those with mobility or vision issues. Handrails are provided on the Bomb Shelter steps but again caution is advised.

The access to the restaurant La Giara requires you to go outside Casa Rocca Piccola and there are 2 small steps to enter.

Guided tours of Casa Rocca Piccola are usually done in clear spoken English. Audio Tours using your own smart phone (iPhone or Android) are available in English, French, Italian, Spanish and German. Laminated normal-sized script translations are available in Italian - French - Spanish - German - Polish - Japanese - Romanian - Greek - Russian - Hungarian - Dutch - Portuguese. Large script laminated texts are available in English.

Properly trained guide dogs are welcome but be advised that a parrot lives on the premises.

We suggest contacting us in advance if you are mobility impaired so we can be waiting for you.
